How To Choose a Cruise
Turism Dept.
Cruises have become one of the most popular ways of travel in the last couple of years and this has resulted in more and bigger ships to choose from, apart from the variety in destinations and price ranges available.
There are eight steps for success when it comes to choosing a cruise:
Step 1: When planning your cruise, start by doing some online research from home and once you have an idea of the type of vacation you want contact a cruise-only travel agency. Because they specialize in cruise vacations they are more likely to have access to specials and cruise deals.
Step 2: It is important to decide where and when you want to travel and from where you’d like to embark from. Some cruises travel all year round, such as the ones sailing to the Caribbean and Asia, but there are others, such as Alaskan cruises that only sail in summer.
Step 3: Knowing who is travelling with you will determine the type of cruise you should choose. Families have different needs than newlyweds and singles have different requirements than couples.
Step 4: Decide which ports of call you want to visit, what type of activities and excursions you would like to do and what type of on board facilities and amenities you want.
Step 5: Decide whether you prefer a big ship with lots of entertainment choices or a smaller and more intimate ship.
Step 6: Decide how much you want to spend before hand. There are discounts for early bookings, all inclusive package deals and lower fares for travelling in off peak season.
Step 7: Find out the average age of the passengers in the cruise you’d like to embark. This fact will help you decide whether this ship in particular satisfies your needs.
Step 8: Choose the level of formality you want for your vacation. Certain ships demand formal attire at certain dinners whilst others cater to vacationers who prefer a more relaxed and casual environment.
